How To Choose Carrier Oils For Your Hair

By On 6:19 PM
Carrier Oils

The curl pattern of your hair is not as important as Hair Strand Width, Hair Density and Hair Porosity. The article below is a general guide to finding the right type of products for your hair, based on hair strand width, which I consider as the most important in understanding your hair.

You only need the right blend of water which is for moisture and oils which is for smoothing to be able to control your curls or coils. The tricky part of all this is basically the Oil You are settling for.
If the Oils are heavy, they will definitely weigh your hair down and if it's too light, you will battle with frizz.

Your first thoughts should be finding the best leave-in that your hair will love, in which you should make sure you know your hair strands thickness, which is ''fine to medium or medium to thick''. So when you go shopping for a hair product , make sure to understand if its meant for you or not.

These two words Coarse and Thick are interchangeably used in describing individuals hair strand and this has nothing to do with your ethnicity. For example, two ladies might have same or similar hair coils or curls, but their strands might be twice the size from each other.
The best way to confirm exactly where your hair group falls, is by paying a visit to a dermatologist or trichologist, who has a microscope specially designed to measure hair strand size.

Fine hair strands are between 60 micrometers in diameter, thick hairs equally are within 100 micrometers in diamete.
But, the sign of a fine hair is a thick roots with a thin-looking pony. If your hair is fine, then you probably will have lots of hair strands and these strands appears nice and dense within the roots. While the hair grows longer in length, the thinness of the strands will appear visibly,

The thickness of hair strands varies differently on the parts of the head, so it might be difficult in deciding how to categorize it, well all you need is a good hair product that gives you a good routine care. Wisely choose leave-in conditioners and stylers mostly on the top 5 of carrier oils listed below.

If your hair strands are fine to medium type, then choose products that have light oils. And if your hair strands are medium to thick, then make use of Heavy oils. The major thing is for you to be able to distribute your leave-in or styler evenly from hair roots to tips and not be bothered about greasy hair.

Below Are Heavy Oils For Medium To Thick Hair Strands

▪Avocado Oil
▪Coconut Oil
▪Jojoba Oil
▪Olive Oil
▪Mineral Oil
▪Shea Butter
▪Castor Oil

Light Oils For Fine To Medium Hair Strands

▪Grapeseed Oil
▪Sweet Almond Oil
▪Sunflower Oil
▪Soybean Oil
▪Argan Oil
▪Mango Butter

Note To Self
In your Healthy hair journey, there will always be trias and error, until you understand your hair and what works,  and proper regimen to glued to. Don't give up, take it one step at a time, till you are in better place with your hair.

AFRICAN BLACK SOAP FOR HAIR WASH

By On 9:43 AM
African black soap

There has been so many questions on whether to use the popular African Black soap as shampoo. Personally, I will recommend the local African black soap mostly sold in the local shops or market, some folks calls it Ghana soap.

There are people that have complained of having some various issues with their hair after using some of these branded soaps.

Incass you are planning to use African black soap to wash your hair, i will advice you get original black soap, melt the soap with different oils of your choice on a very low heat, add honey and little shea butter.

You can aslo read NATURAL WAYS TO MAKE YOUR HAIR SOFT

You can also add hibiscus powder, moringa powder, paw paw seed powder, neem powder, Aloe vera gel, pepper mint oil, lavender essential oil, in drops per an essential oil because these oils are very potent and likewise they are optional.
If you are adding  Lavender essential oil, make sure you add it when the soap mixture has cool down.

If the soap is hard add oil to soften, do not use water.
Store it in a clean container.
Adding water to it will involve bacterial and it won't last.

Check out BENEFITS OF HONEY FOR NATURAL HAIR

Note
This recipe is best, as it helps you to determine what goes in your scalp and you are sure you add what you want and also what works for you as well.
If you can't afford an essential oil or don't know where to get one, just go ahead and use the ones you have. If you have them be sure to use them in drops because they are very potent.

Guest Post- How To Use A Microwave To Cook

By On 11:42 AM
Microwave

A microwave is famously known to warm food before eating or defrosting frozen foods. There are other features a microwave comes with like grilling, cooking which rice, fish, and vegetables. Our natural inclination is to heat up food and make cup noodles or popcorn.

In this write-up, we will be talking about how a microwave works, tips for cooking with a microwave and food recipes to cook using a microwave.

How A Microwave Works

A microwave is an electric oven that uses radiated heat just like the heating process of the sun but compared to that of a convection toaster oven it makes use of convection heating and a fan for even heating. One peculiar feature to the microwave is that food with high moisture content (water) tend to heat fast and evenly.

The secret to cooking perfectly in a microwave is, first make sure that there is moisture and secondly make sure that cooking is made evenly.

For converting a simple recipe to a microwave fit recipe for cooking there are 3 things to put at the back of your mind.

▪Browning of food does not occur in the microwave so there is no need to put oil for browning.

▪Reduce the spices because the microwave brings out the taste of the food.

▪Decrease liquids by half.

Tips For Cooking With A Microwave

1.Cooking time differ for vegetables and meat so it is best to separate them when cooking and it is also advisable to cut vegetables and beef into smaller quantities in order to enable even cooking.

2. Arrange dishes in the microwave properly, don’t forget that the microwave rotates so be careful to arrange dishes evenly to prevent spills inside the microwave.

3. Pierce thick food before putting it in the microwave so cooking can be done evenly. Food like Hot dogs, potatoes, chicken e.tc.

4. Let the food stand a little bit before it is served because even the plate or dish used to cook it will be extremely hot.

5. Covering your food in the microwave is very important if you don't want your food flying around, the microwave itself comes with a food cover so make good use of it.

6. As you cook check food at short intervals if can be stirred seize the opportunity to ensure even cooking.

7. Use proper glassware that is microwave friendly.

Note

under any circumstance please do not put an aluminum foil to cover your food or as a plate, in the microwave, the microwaves in the foil will bounce to the magnetron in the oven and shorten the lifespan of your microwave. It can also cause the foil to catch fire and make a big bang, trust me I did it as a kid and got in trouble.

Low Metabolism And Ways To Spark It

By On 10:10 PM
Metabolism

Hope Juliasdailytips readers are doing great, I am so grateful for having you guys and also for your contributions in the comment section, thank you guys.

Will love to discuss about low metabolism and how to rectify it. One of reasons why some folks struggle with weight issues, might just be because, they have low metabolism.

I have slow or low metabolism, and I have been struggling with loosing some weight, and I tell you it's a long process that desire patience and persistence but there are also ways to speed up the metabolic rate of our body system which has worked for me.

What is Metabolism:

Metabolism can be defined as a process of how calories are burned off by our body, which in turn refer to how much energy that is been used up.
When you your body burns calorie fast, it signifies the rate of how much weight you loose. So if you workout, have a healthy eating habits but you are not loosing any pound. Then probably low metabolism is the culprit.

There are a few sickness that can cause some folks to loose or gain weight, mostly thyriod. Often times age might also play a role in low metabolism, when your body system functions in a slow rate, then you will find it difficult cutting off calories and some pounds. This is mostly the reson Why people with low metabolism feel fatigue, are sluggish and often times have joint pains.

Another reason why one experience low metabolism is the body blood circulation,  if your blood don't circulate well, it can stall the process of burning energy. Depression also slows your metabolic rate, when your are moody your body slows down as well.

There Are Few Ways To Spark Your Metabolism

Green Tea - Studies have shown that Green Tea can help boost fat burning. Green Tea helps with weight loss, improves digestion, lowers blood sugar level, lowers cholesterol, etc. Green Tea breaks down the fat with the help of the cells which moves through the bloodstream.
Green Tea  contains about 24g-40g of caffeine in 1 cup and caffeine is a stimulant. So it helps to stimulate the body functions of energy used up. Green Tea is also loaded with antioxidants too, which help boost the metabolism.

Chilli Peppers - This hot pepper derives its heat from oily chemical compound called Capsaicin and it is located in the membranes which surrounds the peppers seed.
Capsaicin helps in boosting high metabolism by the function of thermogenesis which is a process our body burns off calories into heat and use it up as fuel,
To make sure that you shed extra pounds with Chilli Pepper, you will have to watch out what you eat by cutting down calories.

Whole Grains - It takes our body alot of time and extra work to break down whole grains than processed foods. It will be good to keep your metabolic rate high by eating grains rich in fiber that will make our body work harder to digest.
Examples are oatmeal, quinoa, brown rice, etc.

Raw Garlic - A research has shown that eating raw garlic speed up the metabolism rate by supporting blood sugar break-down with the help of control lipids levels in the blood.
Eating raw garlic also ward off heart disease, lowers blood pressure, fights inflammation and boost the immune system.

Beans - Beans are rich with soluble and insoluble fibers, our body process of digesting the protein and fiber found in beans helps to burn of extra calories. These fibers helps to lower insulin levels after digestion occurs which causes the body to store less fat,

Drink Lots Of Water -  Drinking up more water helps to increase the rate which we burn calories. Drinking up 1.5 liters of water daily helps to increase our metabolic rate.
If you do this consistently for a year not only will you have a high metabolism you will be free of toxins and radicals in your body system.
You will also need to have 8 hours sleep daily, because our body burns calories while we are asleep.
